Rock Star Video

Posted by rlymonhall on June 18, 2009

This is an interview I did with a local musician for a project in advanced digital video.  Scott and I had a lot of fun playing around with various colors and transition effects.

Sadness

Posted by rlymonhall on June 18, 2009

This is the first video I ever really made on my own.  I had done some stuff in school, but this was the first time I oversaw every aspect of production.  I was supposed to have a partner on this one, and she is even credited as being there, but she helped with about half and hour of shooting and then vanished.

For some reason, it only shows up in the upper corner of the window, I do not know why.  I had a lot of fun with this though.  Again, the weird side of me comes out when I write captions and titlecards.  End music by Bad Religion.

Nightmares

Posted by rlymonhall on June 18, 2009

This is a short video make in AfterEffects that uses entirely public domain pictures.  It was fun to mess with the images and screw with the colors for strange videos.

When I was editing this, it got to be very late, hence the stream of consciousness in the titlecards.  The music is by Apocalyptica.

Leaves

Just a silly little exercise I did in AfterEffects.

This would be my cheesy production company logo…

Keeper of the Bees

Posted by rlymonhall on June 18, 2009

This is Keeper of the Bees, a movie I made in my Junior year of college.  Originally it was supposed to be a music video for my friend Jeff’s band, and in fact, the original scrpit was written while listening to some of their tracks.

All light used in this video is natural, which was a choice dictated both by perfect conditions on the first day of shooting and the ability of the camera we were using to pick up colors with minimal light.

I had a lot of fun making this, but the editing was a pain.  To accentuate the weirdness of it, Matt and I threw in some continuity errors in the final cut, which now I kind of hate, maybe I will go back and take them out.

This was my first attempt at linear filmmaking, and for some reason I decided to do it without dialogue, and I think it worked pretty well.

Abstinence Commerical

Posted by rlymonhall on June 18, 2009

This is a mini-commercial that I made for a class.  The assignment was to make a commercial about a concept, with a set visual style.   The topic I was assigned was abstinence.  Instead of full motion video, I chose to go with a cheesey kind of still image with limited moving text approach.

The music is a demo version of Hey Jealousy by the Gin Blossoms.

As a funny aside, on the girls in the class did a short commercial for the concept of toothpaste.  So the day came that we had to watch the class’s commericals.  After about thirty seconds of head-on shots of caucasion students experiencing the typical post toothbrush happiness, the text “Be Happy, Be White” appeared on screen.  Every jaw in the room hit the floor.

The Beginning

Posted by rlymonhall on June 12, 2009

So, this is it.  I am attempting a career change.  I went to school for art and media, specifically video, and am working in a sales job.  It’s rather lucritive, but not at all fulfilling, and maybe I’m crazy, but I would rather work at a job I love and be scraping by than be wealthy and miserable.

So I am posting my media resume.  Hopefully this helps get some attention to my work and helps me get some freelance work.
